Today in Primary the sharing time was about choices and consequences, always a good reminder for anyone. Later in the evening I attended the Baptism Preview meeting for all the children who will be turning eight this year and getting baptized. A member of our stake presidency spoke and mentioned how getting baptized was one of, if not the most important decisions he has made in his life. That choice has affected every other choice he has made since.

Our lives are made up of various chains of choices, the consequences they lead to and the choices that are presented as a result of the previous choice. When we choose to be kind to someone, they are made happy, as are we. We may develop a kinship with that individual that may bloom into a friendship that will effect our life from then on. Conversely, we may choose to cheat on homework because it’s easier than actually having to do it. This makes it harder to grasp the next concepts taught, eventually finding yourself completely lost and failing the course.

With my mind going along these lines we had a family home evening lesson discussing this concept. It seemed to be an effective lesson with most of our children engaged in the discussion. Being five, our youngest is still learning and so didn’t completely grasp all that we talked about, but it was a productive discussion. We used this comic to help illustrate the point.

And you can’t have F.H.E. without a treat. I surprised the fam with Italian sodas. Got the recipe here. They were definitely yummy!!
